Why start a new church?
This is a question that we get asked a lot. Aren't there already churches in Bay Ridge? Why would we start a new one?
We have had a transforming experience of God's love and want to see our neighbors in Southwest Brooklyn encounter that love too. We want to communicate the timeless truth of the story of Jesus in a fresh, relevant way. That being said, we don't just want to start a new church service, but build a community that is knit together to love God and love their neighbors. A community that gathers to celebrate God's goodness together and then scatters throughout the city to shine light and love into dark places.
We have been loved to love.
Our vision is to see New York City awakened to God's love. We believe the best way forward is to start grace-filled, diverse, and multiplying churches that spread across the city of New York. We want to see the love and grace of Jesus infused into every aspect of city life - from business to babies, creativity to culture, and mercy to ministry.
We are a growing community of people being transformed by the love of God. Our heart is to see people receive God's love, and respond by loving God back and loving our neighbors. Our community is made up of people from different backgrounds, nations and even languages. We are passionate about seeing a church in Bay Ridge that reflects the neighborhood's rich cultural diversity and is united by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Our hope is to see the love of Jesus put on display through a community of people empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Partnerships & Beliefs
While we are a young church community, we embrace thousands of years of church history. We are a non-denominational church that believes in the authority of the Christian Scriptures for our life and practice. We embrace the power of the Holy Spirit and the sovereignty of God. We hold to the essential orthodox Christian beliefs as best expressed in the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed, as well as the The Lausanne Covenant.
Although we are not recording sermons in Brooklyn yet, here are a couple recent sermons from one of our leaders, Seth Hoffman.
Seth & Rhianon Hoffman
Seth and Rhianon moved with their children to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, in 2015. They have a heart to see people wake up to the love of God. Seth leads the church planting team. He became a Christian in drug rehab in 2003 and has since been in leadership and on staff at New Frontiers Church for a number of years. He is currently being trained as a part of Redeemer City to City and has participated in the Trilogy Project and Church Planting Training.
We love playing at Owl's Head Park, drink too much coffee at local coffee shops, love the food and drinks at Ho Brah and enjoy hanging on our stoop on 71st St.
